From fried chicken to gyros, Italian sausages to burgers, our products will satisfy the cravings of both meat eaters and die-hard vegans. Our aim isn’t to convince you that eating meat is bad. Rather, we're excited to share products that demonstrate how eating plant-based meat is, in many cases, a better, healthier, but most importantly, a tastier alternative.

Our story

Lockdown experiments

The Plant-Based Butcher began as a series of experiments during the several COVID-19 lockdowns in Berlin, Germany. The products you see on this store are the result of many failed attempts. Many hours of trial and error. Many iterations. And many taste and texture tests (who knew that rice paper makes the best crispy duck skin?!).

A yearning for a better option

The market for vegan meat is exploding, but the options out there, while tasty, are increasingly unhealthy, highly processed, and environmentally questionable. We started The Plant-Based Butcher to ensure we never again need to make the decision between ethics, health, and the full enjoyment of food.

A sustainable, open approach

Every single product sold on this store can be made yourself, in your kitchen, with a little bit of time, effort, and some simple ingredients. We'll only ever ship locally but we want to have a global reach. The recipes for all our products will be shared on our blog to allow everyone to enjoy a hearty, healthy, and meaty plant-based diet.
